Udupi, Oct 10: Recently, the fact that Prathap Shetty-Prathima couple from Kundpaur showed their affection towards their mother tongue by christening their daughter, 'Kannada' had received a lot of attention and appreciation in social media.

Now, it has been reported that another couple has come forward with a unique name for their child. Asha and Prashanth Poojary couple from Chara village in Hebri taluk have named their child, 'Sainya’ (army).

Prashanth has been serving the Indian Army for the last several years. By naming his child after the army, he has shown the passion he has for his job. Currently, he has been posted in Jammu and Kashmir.

Prashanth's love, respect and honour for the army for which he works, have been well-appreciated.

I feel some parents during naming their child simply think of their love for what they love, never think for the future of child.what if the child later will be teased of her name? How many times children come home crying, because some bullying them.or names comparing to what in books is.Name your child a simple but can be a stylish name but not naming after country,or animals etc.can be a flower name ,is mostly very common.

Instead of naming the children after those which they love, the parents should approach a notary and get their name changed !!!

Its there choice and one needs conviction, guts and passion. Being in the army the father for sure does not have selfish motive but pure patriotism, not drama like politicians!

it is nice to see this trend...

already there are names like tamilarasi, tamilarasan, konkana etc. etc. nothing wrong in names such as kannada, konkani, tuluvi etc. as mark of pride in one's language... if there can be surnames such as senani, pilot, havaldar, shabhag etc. there can be names denoting noble professions such as sainya, vaidya, adhyapak etc. to denote love for one's profession by naming children after profession...

Parents should be very careful when naming children.. children should not be bullied by the names.. parents should put their love for language in children's heart and not birth certificate...

One need not show his love for the country/mother tongue by naming the child Sainya/Kannada etc.....They can love the country/mother tongue by different ways. This may be one of the way. Nothing great about it.
