Dubai, Oct 13: The Dubai police rescued a crane operator from a height of 65 metre which is almost the height of a 13 residential building after he suffered a heart attack. The operator at that height suddenly fell ill and suffered a blood clot and the force was immediately called up.

Lt-Col Yahya Hussain Muhammad, head of difficult missions section at the Dubai police said, "Joined by the first responders from the Dubai civil defence, Dubai corporation for ambulances services and the land rescue team at the Dubai police, our teams immediately leapt into action to save the man in distress who suffered a heart attack at the top of a huge gantry crane at Jebel Ali port."

The rescue team climbed up to the top of the crane and provided him with first aid necessary to stabilize the condition and then shifted him to hospital.

The challenge, however, was to bring down the person from such a height as the crane's electric lift had also broken down. "Our technical team had to first repair the lift and operate it manually before we brought the man down to the first floor where he was then placed on a stretcher and carried down to the ambulance," Lt-Col Muhammad explained.
