Cabinet okays India-Australia MoU for groundwater management


New Delhi, Oct 14 (IANS): The Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave approval for an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between India and Australia on ground water management last year.

The Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga rejuvenation, India had inked the MoU with the Managing Aquifer Recharge and Sustaining Groundwater Use Through Village-level Intervention (MARVI) PARTNERS, Australia in October last year.

The MoU aims to promote cooperation in surface and groundwater training, education and research to achieve water security for agricultural, urban, industrial and environmental purposes.
