Mangalore: State's Biggest Job Fair ‘Western 361 Degree’ Begins in City

Mangalore, Apr 23: ‘Western 361 Degree’, the two-day job fair organized by Western Institute of Technology, was inaugurated at TMA Pai Convention Hall in the city on Friday April 23.
Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza inaugurated the fair in a formal function. Blessing the occasion, he said that providing jobs was a holy service which helps a person lead a good life.
“This job fair stands apart with its career guidance programme and for giving the opportunity to several youngsters to get employment through interviews on the spot with various companies”, he said.
Dr Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Foundation, said that getting employment has become difficult for educated youth in these times and such job fairs will ease the difficulty of searching for jobs.
“The students also need to fix their goals towards getting a good job”, he said adding that a job fair creates a good environment for the companies to select staff.
Abhayachandra Jain, MLA and chief whip in the opposition of state legislative assembly, U T Khader, MLA from Mangalore constituency, S S Kamath, chartered accountant, Tim Roberts, president, Safety Alliance, Glenvillle Brass, former director of HR in Corporate Governing Societie Generele Global Solution Centre, and Pretty Roberts were also present.
Water Stephen Mendes, president, Western Institute, welcomed all. Dr Godfrey Mendes, chairman, Western Institute of Technology, proposed the vote of thanks. Magadalina Fernandes was also present and Flora Mendes compered the programme.
More than 60 companies are participating in the job fair. Interviews are also being conducted at the venue.
Seminars and career guidance for students as well as job-seekers have also been arranged at the venue.
At this two-day job fair, Infosys, Wipro, Reliance, First Indian Corporation, First Source, and Fernandes Groups along with several automobile, life insurance companies, and local factories, are participating
