Odisha witnesses declining trend in Covid cases


Bhubaneswar, Oct 20 (IANS): The Covid-19 positive cases continue to show a declining trend in Odisha as the state recorded 1,904 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, informed the health department on Tuesday.

The total caseload of Odisha climbed to 2,72,250.

As many as 16 more persons succumbed to Coronavirus in the state in the last 24 hours as the toll mounted to 1,168, the department said.

The deaths were reported from Jharsuguda, Bhadrak, Khurdha, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi and Nuapada districts.

Of the total fresh cases detected from all 30 districts, 1,115 have been reported from different quarantine centres while the remaining 789 are the local contact cases. Khordha district recorded the highest 221 fresh cases followed by Nuapada (128) and Cuttack (111).

The number of active cases in the state stood at 21,454 while 2,49,575 patients have recovered so far.
