Congress likely to get new media dept head after Bihar polls

New Delhi, Oct 21 (IANS): Congress President Sonia Gandhi may appoint a new Media Department Chairman after the Bihar Assembly elections since Randeep Singh Surjewala has been promoted as AICC General secretary in charge of Karnataka and also made a regular CWC member, party sources said on Wednesday.

There is a buzz in the Congress on the name of the next Media Department head, with the sources saying that member of Parliament Manish Tewari may be given the charge since he is a former Minister for Information and Broadcasting in UPA-2. Many other names, including of Pawan Khera, are also doing rounds.

Sonia Gandhi may also divest many others of responsibility of dual charges they are presently holding in the party organisation.

Sonia Gandhi had in September, ahead of her visit to the US, announced major reshuffle in the party by AICC leaders incharges of one state each, barring Shakti Singh Gohil and Dinesh Gundu Rao who hold charges of more than one state.

They may need to be divested of additional charge, sources said, since the party wants to be focussed and prepared for elections slated in the next two years.

Assembly polls will be held in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and Assam in 2021. Elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand are slated in 2022.

Sonia Gandhi had also constituted the Central Election Authority to conduct organisational elections and pave way for the new President.

SERIOUSLY??? New media head and same leaders?? People are not fools to buy old stuff in a new package. Come on!
New Leaders in Congress is the need of the hour. Young dynamic, result oriented with new ideas.
A non dynastic and non controversial as well. If not its better to merge with some regional parties or give walk over to BJP.
