Mysuru, Oct 22: The city corporation here is moving to mark the attendance of the civic workers through facial recognition insead of the thumb impression that is in practice now .
Currently, thumb impressions are marked to record the attendance. But now due to the fast spread of coronavirus infection thumb impression is not considered a safe option. As the thumbs of several civic workers have been faded their attendance is rejected by the machine. Considering these aspects, the city corporation, on the lines of the Chhattisgarh government and intending to change the system.
If everything goes well as per plans, the new system will be introduced in three months time. Commissioner of the corporation Gurudath Hegde said that corona cases in the city are on the rise and civic workers, being corona warriors are on the front line of work. As their safety is the concern of everyone, discussions were held at the meeting about changing to facial recognition instead of thumb impression. He said that after the Dasara, tender would be floated and the plan to implement the new system within three months.
