M'luru: Advanced inpatient care - Novel additions to College of Physiotherapy, Srinivas University

Mangaluru, Oct 22: College of Physiotherapy, Srinivas University situated at Pandeshwar, Mangaluru invested in innovative technology and added two new members to its physiotherapy outpatient department, Tech Laser SS2000 and Wavestar 500. The inauguration was done by Vidyadheesha Teertha Sripadaru Swamiji of Palimaru Matha in the presence of chancellor, CA A Raghavendra Rao, pro-chancellor Dr A Srinivas Rao, vice-chancellor Dr P S Aithal, the board of governors, registrars, dean Dr S Rajasekar, deans of other sister institutions and faculty.



Tech Laser SS2000 a kind of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is one of the most sophisticated methods of treating chronic wounds, ulcers, diabetic foot etc. Many sports injuries such as tennis elbow, supraspinatus tendinitis; common pain problems such as lower back pain, spondylitis, neck pain, osteoarthritis can be treated effectively. It is a non-invasive and sterile procedure with no side effects and can also be used in conjunction with any medications.

Wavestar 500 is Pulsed Short Wave Diathermy (PSWD) equipment that delivers the energy in pulses or bursts. It is therapeutically more beneficial compared to other electrotherapy modalities which deliver energy in continuous form. It is effective for many conditions especially in their early stages of recovery.

College of Physiotherapy outpatient department is a community not-for-profit setting which has been committed to improving the health of all members of the community by providing superior, patient-centred care in a safe, compassionate environment.
