Dubai, Oct 23: Two Arab students were caught reportedly threatening a 34-year-old Bangladeshi worker walking outside a grocery store in Dubai. They threatened him with a stun gun and took his wallet that contained cash worth Dh3,000, according to court records.

The incident reportedly took place at 5 am on July 18. The two students, both 20 years old are charged at the Dubai Court of First Instance.

The worker, during the investigaton recalled, "A car stopped and a man stepped off. He grabbed me by the shoulder saying that he is a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officer. He accused me of selling cigarettes."

He alleged that he was forced inside the back seat of the car and asked to give his wallet, mobile phone and Emirates ID. "That man sat by my side while holding a stun gun. His accomplice was then behind the wheel and I could not see his face well because I was so scared of the man beside me," he said.

He further narrated stating that after a five minute drive they returned his ID and mobile phone and then dropped him in a residential area in Al Quoz. He managed to take note of the car’s plate number and filed a complaint at Bur Dubai police station.

A police sergeant said the main accused admitted to having forced the worker to get inside the car while posing as a CID officer. The defendant then used a stun gun on the complainant to make him surrender his wallet. The accused also handed over the stun gun to the police. An amount of Dh925, which was taken from the complainant, was also found in his possession, the police said. The accused's accomplice also admitted to have committed the crime.
