Bengaluru, Oct 24: The state high court has passed an order quashing the summons served on former chief minister Siddarmaiah by the special court for people's representatives relating to the denotification and land grabbing allegations made against Siddarmaiah in 1996. The high court has also directed to drop trial of the case.

Siddaramaiah had filed a petition questioning the service of summons to him. A single judge bench of the high court presided over by Justice John Michael Cunha passed this order. Siddaramaiah had been accused of illegal land encroachment and misuse of power.

The policemen of Laxmipuram police station in Mysuru had filed B report in the court on November 3, 2018 giving a clean chit to Siddaramaiah relating to the case. But the litigant Gangaraju, who is an RTI activist had filed appeal against this order in the court of senior civil judge at Mysuru. The case had later been shifted to the people's representatives special court here which served summons to Siddaramaiah.
