Bengaluru: Sandalwood drug scandal - Bail application inquiry of Ragini, Sanjjanaa completed

Bengaluru, Oct 25: The one-member bench of the high court consisting of Justice Srinivas Harish Kumar has completed the inquiry of the bail applications of Sandalwood actress Ragini and Sanjjanaa, who have been arrested on accusation of their involvement in the Sandalwood drug network. The verdict is kept pending by the Justice.

Arguing in favour of Sanjjanaa, her attorney Hasmath Pasha said, "There is no evidence against Sanjjanaa. CCB police have not properly followed the rules under the NDPS act. No drugs have been confiscated from the house of Sanjjanaa. That is why bail should be granted to Sanjjanaa, who is innocent."

Putting forth his argument in favour of actress Ragini, lawyer Jayakumar said, "Ragini is innocent in this whole case. CCB has not got any evidence against her. She has cooperated with the CCB during the investigation. She is in judicial custody since one and a half month. She should be granted bail."

Objecting to the arguments placed in front of the court by lawyers for Ragini and Sanjjanaa, special public prosecutor Veeranna Tigadi, defending CCB said, "All accused in this case are extremely influential people. If they are given bail, they will destroy the evidence. Some of them have used their influence on the police as well. Already an officer of the rank of ACP in CCB is kept under suspension for leaking secret information. Some of the prime accused in the case are still absconding. More information will be available once they are apprehended. As the investigation is not complete, if the accused are provided bail it will affect the investigation."
