Kasargod: Posadigumpe to be developed as main tourist attraction - Revenue minister

Kasargod, Oct 25: Revenue minister E Chandrashekharan has informed that Posadigumpe will be developed as a main tourist attraction of the district.

Chandrashekharan gave this information after he paid a visit to Posadigumpe along with DC Dr D Sajithbabu.

The revenue minister said, "Posadigumpe has the potential of attracting high number of tourists as it is a hill station. Many things of Posadigumpe will attract the tourists. All requirements of infrstructured needed for the tourists should be developed here. The ET station, which the British built in 1880 with the intention of surveying the area will be preserved as heritage.

"The state government wishes to develop hill stations like Posadigumpe, Manjipodikunnu, Ranipuram, Kottanjeri, in addition to Bekal fort. BRDC and DTPC will jointly sketch the plans for tourism projects. The arrival of foreign tourists to these hill stations is easier through Kannur and Mangaluru international airports. These new destinations will inspire the tourism centers of the district."

Posadigumpe is the highest mountain of the district. This is located near the Bayaru Dharmathadka vicinity of Paivalike. This can be reached through national highway of Kasargod-Mangaluru via Uppala or Bandyodu. This mountain has picturesque environment of natural beauty. This mountain is best for trekkers for trekking, inspiration to poets and artists. In addition, it will also give the spiritual experience to religious thinkers. It is much suited for movie shooting also.

The mountain has ancient caves, tunnels and wells. Shedi cave on the mountain is an important religious place. Once in a year on the morning of Theertha Amavasya, sacred ash is collected from the cave. On the east of the mountain is Kudremukh and Kumaraparvata. On the west in Arabian sea.
