Udupi, Oct 26: "Catholic Sabha is trying continuously to bring about changes in the society by unity," said the Udupi diocese bishop most Fr Dr Isaac Lobo. He addressed a gathering after inaugurating the annual meeting of the Catholic Sabha at Mother of Sorrows church auditorium here on Sunday.
"Catholic Sabha has been providing excellent service in society for the last eight years and has become popular in the country. The service of the sabha to all the groups of people during the lockdown was commendable. May the service continue for the development of the community," he said.
Karnataka State Cashew Producer’s Association president, Santhosh D’Silva Karkala who was the chief guest, said that Catholic Sabha has become popular in the country because of its selfless service. "The efforts of the sabha for community members to obtain high positions should continue," he said.
Author Richard Danti Pamboor was felicitated with the Francis Danti memorial award. Winners in the late Denis Danti memorial article writing competition were awarded prizes. The directory for the year 2020-21 was unveiled.
Those who sold the highest number of coupons, active zones and units and those who helped in Amcho Sandesh magazine were identified and honoured.
Organization president, Robert Menezes chaired and conducted the meeting. Co-secretary, Gregory P K D’Souza tabled the previous year’s annual meeting report, secretary Santhosh Corneleo the annual report, treasurer Jerald Rodrigues, the annual accounts, Henry Menezes, the report of Manasa organization and Alice Rodrigues tabled the community trust report.
The Catholic Sabha spiritual director, Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, former president Alwyn Quadras, assigned president Mary D’Souza, Sashakta community trust convener, Walter Cyril Pinto, zonal president, Mabel D’Souza Kundapur, Rosy Baretto Kallianpur, Solomon Alvares Karkala, Aida Corneleo Shirva and Ronald Almeida Udupi were present.
Robert Menezes welcomed the gathering. Santhosh Corneleo proposed the vote of thanks. Edward Larsen D’Souza compered the programme.
