Chennai, Oct 27: Khushbu Sundar, the actor-turned-politician who recently quit Congress to join BJP was detained on Tuesday in Tamil Nadu. Khushbu was on her way to Chidambaram to join a protest against VCK leader Thirumavalavan for his alleged remarks on Manusmriti when she was detained by the police.

On October 24, VCK leader Thirumavalan had staged a protest seeking a ban on the ancient Hindu text 'Manusmriti' claiming it denigrated women.

A video clip of the VCK chief had also gone viral, in which he had purportedly used a word linking it to the text and thereby triggering a controversy with Hindu outfits who alleged that Thirumavalan's comment was against Hinduism and women.

BJP leader Khushbu while addressing the media at the party headquarters in Chennai, had slammed Thirumavalavan asking him to be careful of what he speaks since he was a political leader. She had demanded an apology from the VCK chief for his remark on women, Manusmriti and Sanathana dharma.
