Mangaluru, Oct 29: Athena Institute of Health Sciences on October 29 organized a programme to express gratitude and bid farewell to the outgoing principal, Sr Dhanya Devasia and to welcome the newly appointed principal, Sr Deepa Peter at Athena College of Nursing.
The occasion was graced by dignitaries on the dais, R S Shettian the chairman, Asha Shettian the secretary, Dr Ashith Shettian the trustee, Sr Dhanya Devasia, the outgoing principal, Sr Deepa Peter, the newly appointed principal and Dr Sr Alphonsa Ancheril the vice-principal.
Winnie Crasta, the nursing superintendent of Athena Hospital was also present at the programme.
The programme commenced with a prayer service conducted by Sr Lavina, the assistant lecturer and team.
Dr Sr Alphonsa Ancheril welcomed the gathering and introduced the newly appointed principal, Sr Deepa. The students of all the batches virtually bid farewell to the outgoing principal.
The faculty with their melodious voices greeted and thanked Sr Dhanya through farewell songs. Sonia Lobo, the associate professor expressed sentiments of gratitude on behalf of the faculty.
R S Shettian, chairman of Athena Institute of Health Sciences thanked and felicitated the outgoing principal for the services which she rendered to the institution. She was honoured by the dignitaries with a shawl, garland, fruits and memento.
Shettian also welcomed the newly appointed principal and handed over the mandate to her. Sr Dhanya expressed her sentiments of gratitude to the management, staff and students and handed over the lighted lamp to the newly appointed principal symbolically.
Sr Deepa Peter in her message encouraged the faculty to strive to attain 'Excellence in education and Quality in service'. She said, "We should understand our students and encourage them to make use of their potential."
Sharlet D’Souza, the associate professor proposed the vote of thanks.
