Andhra registers 2,905 new Covid cases as recoveries outnumber


Amaravati, Oct 30 (IANS): Andhra Pradesh registered 2,905 new Covid positive cases, increasing the state's tally to 8.17 lakh cases, even as 3,243 more patients recovered from the virus to outnumber infections on Thursday.

West Godavari district accounted for the highest number of cases, 494, in the past 24 hours, followed by East Godavari (414), Krishna (361), Guntur (359), Chittoor (259) and Anantapur (221).

Among other places, Prakasam (206), Kadapa (191), Visakhapatnam (119), Nellore (96), Srikakulam (90), Vizianagaram (70) and Kurnool (25).

With the new additions, Covid tallies of the three districts of Kurnool, Nellore and Prakasam are inching towards 60,000.

East Godavari leads the districts with 1.14 lakh cases while West Godavari trails it with 84,765 cases.

Meanwhile, 16 more patients succumbed to the virus, raising the statewide toll to 6,659.

On adding the new deaths, Chittoor district toll rose to 776, highest.

However, the positive trend of higher recoveries outnumbering new cases continues in AP with 3,243 more recoveries.

So far, 7.84 lakh patients have recovered from the disease in Andhra Pradesh, where the number of active cases presently stands at 26,268.

With 88,778 more tests, AP has tested 78.6 lakh samples for the virus in total.
