UAE Helping in Rehabilitation of Women and Child Refugees

Abu Dhabi, Apr 30 (IANS/WAM): A humanitarian organisation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is playing a major role in rehabilitation of women and child refugees during conflicts or natural disasters, a top official has said.

The UAE's Red Crescent Authority (RCA), working under International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), is the one of the biggest providers of humanitarian assistance for refugees around the world, Mohamed Khalifa Al Qamzi, RCA secretary general, said Thursday.

A fund for the care of refugee women and children has also been established, he said, adding that it will help reduce suffering in different regions and provide better care and dignified life for refugee women and children, who constitute around 60 percent of the total number of refugees in the world, he said.
