Kundapur, Oct 30: “The local MLA has not responded even after we said that we will call off the protests if the basic facilities are provided for Vandse self-help centre and an alternative permanent spot is arranged within the next seven days. Therefore, our protests will continue till district level,” said former MLA K Gopala Poojary.
Speaking to reporters in Hosangadi, he said that they will withdraw the protests if women are provided security.
“The MLA has spoken about constructing a ropeway in Kollur. Environmentalists are saying that there are several living creatures there and a ropeway will adversely affect the traditional seat of Shankeracharya. Such projects should be discussed with local people in advance before implementation. Kollur has a history and over a lac of people have believed in it. The actions should not be hurting the minds of the people oe else they will get the wrong message otherwise,” he said.
