Banks to charge for deposits & withdrawals, Cong says 'Kamar Tod Tohfa'

New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS): Customers in some banks will now have to start paying fees for deposit and withdrawal of money.

As per reports, Bank of Baroda will start charging its customers for transactions beyond the prescribed limits from November 1.

Names of other banks like Bank of India, PNB, Axis Bank and Central Bank are also emerging in reports, but they are yet to take a final call on the matter.

Tagging the report, Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala attacked the Centre and called the latest move a "Kamar Tod Tohfa" of the government.

As per reports, some of these transaction charges will kick in from November 1.

It is being said that withdrawals three times in a month will be free but after that a withdrawal transaction charge will be levied at a flat fee of Rs 150.

Similarly, deposits three times in a month will be free but thereafter a charge of Rs 40 will be levied on each transaction.

"Modi Sarkar ka naya kamar tod tohfa. Ab jhud ka paisa bank mein jama karwane aur nikalwane par bhi bank karenge vasooli (now one's own money will be charged for deposits and withdrawals by banks)," Surjewala said.

Instead of looting unashamedly, you could have reduced rates of interest on deposits and increased interest on loans. Public wouldn't have said anything. Thodi tho sharam karo.

Even though previous government were corrupt but public had a peaceful and stressfree life, businessness from small traders to big MNCs were booming and each individual was confident to spend money and earn money.

Ever since this current government came to power, economy collapsed, people lost money, businesses shut down, fear and unrest in peoples mind, most of government sectors sold to couple of their friends who contribute to their party in election, many government institutions became puppet, publics own money is under threat, be it at home or in the banks.

Panauti rulers ne desh ko panuauti bana diya. This is bound to happen. When you win elections by polarizing environment spreading hatred and enemity between communities, the curse of victims and innocents are bound to fall upon all.

Modi's BJP government has been a nightmare for the Indian People and the Economy. Modi specializes in Speeches and Photo ops and nothing else.

Only Ambani, Adani, and Media will stand to gain whilst the common man will suffer.

All nationalised banks are run by the Government. Then, why these banks have different modus operandi? There should be uniform rules for the benefit of the common man. It looks like rob Peter and pay Paul!
