Port Louis, Nov 2: Kannadigas around the island of Mauritius got together to celebrate the formation of Karnataka, as the state observes Karnataka Rajyotsava 2020 on November 1. Members and other Kannadigas around the island gathered at JSS Academy, Mauritius to celebrate this event with great pomp and show.
The event began by hoisting the state flag followed by a state song (Naada geethe) sung by the members. This was followed by a dance programme by the children of the Balaga members. Some of the senior members of the Balaga family also presented a skit on 'Onake Obavva' depicting the culture, patriotism and bravery shown by Obavva followed by other cultural programmes.
The programme ended with the distribution of prizes to the participants and a vote of thanks.
