Bengaluru: Toll charges collected exceeds Rs 2,000 crore

Bengaluru, Nov 3: For the first time since Fastag was introduced, toll collection permonth has surpassed Rs 2,000 crore mark. Fastag came into force from January 15 last year. As payment through Fastag has been made mandatory, 80 percent of vehicles are falling under this system. With this, toll collection has been increasing every month and in October, the collection exceededRs 2,000 crore.

But for the months of March to May, toll collection has been robust. After the lockdown terms were eased, vehicular traffic picked up and toll collection went up. In September, the toll collection touched Rs 1,940 crore and in October, the figure touched Rs 2,137.16 crore. For the first time the collection has crossed the Rs 2,000 crore mark. In February this year, just before lockdown was imposed, the collectionk stood at Rs 1,841 crore.
