Daijiworld Media Network - Udupli (SP)

Udupi, Nov 4: An unknown person opened a fake email ID in the name, cm@karnataka.gov.in at 4.48 on November 1. The email ID contains the details, B S Yediyurappa, Hon'ble chief minister, room No. 323A, 3rd floor, Vidhanasoudha, Bengaluru - 01.

To make it look as the chief minister is directly in communicating for his office, an email was sent to the emai ID of the registrar, department of the Academy of Higher Education Manipal of which Dr Narayan Sabhahit is the director.

The letter reads thus: "We have received several emails and complaints from parents and students of all around the globe regarding MAHE plan to open colleges. The condition is not suitable as of now to open the college in November/December 2020. This mail is to make MAHE management aware that it is not allowed to open any college on or before 2nd January 2021. After second January 21, if plan to reopen you need to collect patient's consent to send their wards back to college."

Apparently some miscreant created a fake email ID to look like the official email ID of the chief minister.

On the basis of the complaint made by MAHE registar, Academy of Higher Education, case under the IT Act and Sections 465 and 468 of the income tax has been registered.
