AP Covid infections outnumber recoveries after several weeks


Amaravati, Nov 5 (IANS): Andhra Pradesh has registered more number of Covid infections, 2,745, than recoveries, 2,292, after several weeks on Thursday, increasing the state's tally to 8.35 lakh.

West Godavari district accounted for the highest, 428, number of infections, followed by East Godavari (407), Krishna (398), Guntur (297), Chittoor (286), Anantapur (218) and Nellore (130).

Among other places, Kadapa (125), Prakasam (124), Visakhapatnam (120), Srikakulam (91), Vizianagaram (83) and Kurnool (38).

With the new infections, Nellore's tally crossed the 60,000 mark to reach 60,002 while Kurnool is also inching towards the same mark.

Likewise, Chittoor district is also just 70 cases shy of the 80,000 mark, even as East Godavari continues to shoulder the highest number of cases at 1.17 lakh.

Meanwhile, 13 more patients succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of Coronavirus deaths to 6,757.

Chittoor continues to be the district which has witnessed the highest number of Covid deaths, 790, and approaching the 800 mark.

However, the southern state continues to record an impressive number of recoveries everyday. On Thursday, 2,292 more patients recovered from the pandemic to increase the total recoveries to 8.07 lakh.

Of the 8.35 lakh cases, active cases currently stand at 21,878.
