Mangalore, May 4: The renovated St Joseph’s Church, Jeppu, here was inaugurated and blessed by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, on Sunday May 2. Jeppu Parish Day was also celebrated on the auspicious occasion. 

The statue of St Joseph was carried in a procession from St Joseph’s Nagar to church premises, Jeppu, which was ceremoniously installed at the church by Bishop Dr Aloysius. 















Bishop concelebrated the Eucharistic celebration along with St Joseph Seminary rector Fr Victor Machado, St Joseph’s parish priest Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza and other priests.  

Bishop Dr Aloysius presided over the stage programme held later. St Joseph’s Asylum Industrial Workshops director Fr J B Crasta and Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza among others were present on the dais.  

The building contractor and workmen were also honoured during the programme. 

Variety cultural programmes were staged by the parishioners to mark the Parish Day. A large number of parishioners and faithful attended the celebration.

    isnt the bishop worried about his flok. i donnt find any comment of bishop on the misplaced patrao family of katipalla. where is the bishop ???

    Indeed this is welcome news! This church is such a magnificent monument in the glory of GOD! The structure,paintings, statues and old atmosphere are all special to a high degree! It is worth making all efort to preserve and keep-up such relics for time to come in the interest of the people of Mangalore!Deo Gratias!

    I have very pleasant memories of St. Joseph's Church - popularly known as Jeppu Church. As a little boy I was an Alter Server at this Church. When I received my First Holy Communion I was taken to this Church and was entrusted to St. Joseph - my patron saint.

    It is at St. Joseph's that thousands of seminarians have had their grounding before being ordained as priests. I have known several rectors of St. Joseph the present one being Father Victor Machado who is as good as he is tall. Our Bishop Aloysius must be having nostalgic memories of this great Institution where he was installed as a rector before being consecrated as a Bishop.
