Bengaluru, Nov 6: The government is mulling of forming law against Love Jihad in the same way of Uttar Pradesh. BJP national chief secretary C T Ravi said that this law will be formed in Karnataka also. Union Parliamentary affairs minister Prahlad Joshi has supported the thought. He also said that he will welcome the law if it is implemented.
"Generally, when a Hindu bride and Muslim bridegroom get married the word Love Jihad is used. It is said that this is being done with the ulterior motive of converting the girl to the Islam community. So, if the Karnataka government implements law against Love Jihad, then we will welcome the same," tweeted Prahlad Joshi.
When the CMs of all the BJP administered states in the country are raising their voice on Love Jihad, ministry of home affairs clarified that such word does not exist.
In the BJP executive committee meeting that was held in Mangaluru on November 5, the point of Love Jihad was discussed. The state BJP leaders have also said that they will not wait till the other states in the country take a decision on this.
After the meeting CM Yediyurappa said, "Stringent law will be brought into action to prevent religious conversion for marriage. We will not tolerate enticing Hindu women through loving gestures."
Political analyst Dr Sandeep Shastri opines, "The court has clearly stated that the right to religion will not be valid in cases of deceit and forceful religious conversion for personal gain."
Dr Shastri, however, said that whether the Love Jihad law is applicable to only Hindu girl and Muslim boy marriages or all inter-religion marriages and if not, whether it will violate the religious conversion law, needs to be verified through the court.
