Odisha's Covid cases cross 3 lakh-mark


Bhubaneswar, Nov 7 (IANS): The total Covid-19 caseload in Odisha crossed the three lakh-mark while the death toll surpassed the 1,400-mark, said the health department on Saturday.

The state has reported 1,372 fresh positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the positive tally to 3,00,140.

The total number of fatalities rose to 1,410 in the state as another 17 patients succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.

The deaths were reported from Khordha, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Puri, Balasore, Koraput, Kalahandi, Kendrapara and Bhadrak districts.

Of the total fresh cases, 796 have been reported from different quarantine centres while the remaining 576 are the local contact cases, the department said.

Khordha recorded the highest 145 fresh cases followed by Cuttack (121) and Nuapada (108).

With this, the active cases in the state stand at 13,503 while 2,85,174 patients have recovered so far.
