Helped reduce black money: PM defends demonitisation

New Delhi, Nov 8 (IANS): Even as the opposition Congress mounted an attack on the central government on the fourth anniversary of demonetisation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi defended it by saying the measure helped reduce black money.

"Demonetisation helped reduce black money, increase tax compliance and formalisation and gave a boost to transparency. These outcomes have been greatly beneficial towards the national progress," Modi tweeted.

The Prime Minister said India had turned into a lesser cash-based economy with better tax compliance. He said self-assessment tax of more than Rs 13,000 crore was paid by targeted non-filers and 3.04 lakh persons who deposited cash of Rs 10 lakh or more but had not filed their income tax returns were identified.

Modi also said that 2.09 lakh such identified non-filers had responded and paid self- assessment tax of Rs 6,531 crore.

He also claimed that the demonetisation helped improve India's tax/GDP ratio.

The Prime Minister said the number of counterfeit notes in circulation decreased as well as did decreased sources for financing for terror and left-wing extremism.

Modi had announced demonetisation on November 8, 2016, wherein all old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 banknotes were withdrawn.

Even during congress times there were many demonitisations and new circulation of notes but nobody felt any effects as felt in 2016 during BJP's blunderous demonitisation circus which resulted in negative GDP and record number of negative unemployment. This BJP's demonitisation was planned and designed to render congress and opposition bankrupt which affected the whole financial system to unbalance and collapse because BJP leaders still had huge amount of black money that flooded into the market causing half way circulation of the money which caused RBI an upset imbalance.

Our PM the "GREAT DEMONITATOR" ruined the whole Indian Economy, by his worst Demonitisation process. This was not done for the sake of Nation to control the black money. This was done only to take revenge against Congress Party. Still his "EDUCATED ILLITERATE" supporters justify this action.

There is no need to defend. The amount of black money unearthed and sea change in digital transactions speaks how much a common man benefitted. Those who are affected are still crying with the stock fondly hoping for reversal!!!

Digital transaction revolution could have happened without currency ban. Remember when the banks couldn't get the new notes in atms for months. Stores weren't shut to make people switch to online shopping, same way what was the need for a currency ban?

Demonetisation also helped increase GDP, CAD, PPP, Exims, relations with aliens and also helped Biden win elections.

What difference it makes if you bluff the above? Bhakts will accept the above and sell it on WhatsApp university run by BJP IT cell.

    Go on.

How talented our PM is in defending himself. I wonder his fake data to find 2.09 lakh non-filers, one is to trouble 130+ crore population. How intelligent in defending himself and our blind Bhakthas not even feel shame about our PM's thinking. One can imagine where we can reach out or achieve with this knowledge! My intention let us be honest and save our country by voting and good and intelligent representative and not fooling us.
