Kasargod, Nov 12: Customs officials found gold worth Rs 31.19 lac that was being smuggled into the country via Kannur international airport on Wednesday November 11. The officials have taken the smugglers into custody.
In one of the cases, 423 grams of gold worth Rs 22 lac brought from abroad illegally was seized by the customs officials at the Kannur airport. Sanaf Kulangare (35), a resident of Comfus Manzil, Rehamania Nagar, Muttathody Kasargod was arrested.
In the other case, 175 grams of gold concealed inside chocolates was found in the possession of Muhammed from Mulleria who had arrived from the Gulf. Gold worth Rs 9.19 lac was confiscated from his possession.
