Udupi, Nov 12: Yuvavahini Udupi unit on November 8 held an awards programme under the name of Bannanje Babu Ameeen, Janapada scholar at Laxmi auditorium, near Beedinagudde, here, on November 8.
Janapada researcher, author, Kannada department head at Karkala Bhuvanendra College, Dr Arun Kumar S R was presented Janapada Vidwamsa award and Janapada artiste Loku Poojary was presented Bannanje Babu Ameeen Janapada artiste award.
Arun Kumar responding to the award said that the great tradition of Tulunadu has spread in the world as the Janapada of Tulunadu has contributed to the culture of the country.
Loku Poojary in his reaction to the award wished that Yuvavahini may progress with the kindness of the deity. Yuvavahini former president, programme convenor Bhasker Suvarna Kannarpadi welcomed the gathering.
Selection committee president, Mangaluru University Brahmashree Narayana Peeta president Muddu Moodubelle gave an introduction. Vishwanath Bangera, retired income tax department officer and convener of Kulala Sangha, Mangaluru presented the awards.
Thenkanidiyoor college assistant professor, Dr Duggappa Kadekar congratulated the awardees.
Central committee former president, Udupi unit advisor, Santhosh Kumar said that the programme is meaningful. Bannaje Babu Ameen said that he is happy and proud that the awards are being presented under the leadership of Yuvavahini after his name.
Jagadish Kumar who presided over the programme said that programmes such as these are being held by the support of all.
Ladies convener Navisha was on the dais. Amitanjali Kiran and former president Ashok Kotian introduced the awardees. Donors who helped were felicitated. Snake expert Gururaj Sanil donated his books to the Yuvavahini library. Secretary Malati Ameen thanked those who helped and participated in the programme. Dayananda Karkera compered the programme.
