Udupi, Nov 14: Catholic Sabha, Kalianpur held a programme to exchange Deepavali greetings at Appa Amma orphanage for the residents here.
Prashanth Kooradi, head of the orphanage said that more than 40 senior citizens had joined the orphanage so far. “Some of them are cured of their illness and are sent home. There are 24 residents belonging to various religions in the orphanage who are looked after well with the help of donors free of charge. I am satisfied with my work and the residents are treated like my family members,” he said.
Catholic Sabha Kalianpur president Rosy Baretto said that they selected Appa Amma orphanage as they wanted to celebrate Deepavali with the weak and orphans. “Let their faces brighten up during Deepavali,” she said.
Catholic Sabha donated rice and grocery to the orphanage and distributed Deepavali sweets among the residents.
Catholic Sabha Kalianpur former president Santhosh Corneleo, secretary Celine Colaco, treasurer Urban Lewis, office bearers Edward Larsen D’Souza, Suja D’Souza, Felix Pinto, Arun Kemmannu and Steven Prakash Lewis were present.
