Israel, May 9: The 56th show of Konkani comedy ‘Mhataro Chorbela’, the first ever Konkani drama by Francis Fernandes Cascia, was staged successfully by Konkan Catholic Sangatan (KCS), Israel, to a packed audience at Beit Babur Hall, Tel Aviv, on Friday May 7 at 7.00 pm.
The comedy written by the evergreen and tireless hero of Konkani stage Francis Fernandes Cascia, popularly known as ‘comedy king’, winner of Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award and directed by Joy – Paladka (Mumbai), was highly appreciated by Konkani theatre lovers as well as other enthusiasts of Konkani art and language.
Cascia managed to prove his acting caliber and put the current younger generation to shame, by his versatility. All the actors proved their mettle with superb acting.

This super hit play has been staged earlier in Kuwait, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Mysore, Chickmagalur, Sirsi, Balehonnur, Honnavar, and various parts of Mangalore and Udupi and has received incredible reviews for its popularity.
This was the first ever Konkani show organized by KCS.
Praveen Lobo, Omzoor, welcomed the guests. Fr Arthro, St Anthony Church, Yaffo, Tel Aviv, was the chief guest on the occasion. He complimented and congratulated team ‘Mhataro Chorbela’ for completing its golden jubilee show recently and showered his blessings so they would complete its platinum jubilee soon.
Cascia and Joy Paladka, the director of the play, were felicitated by KCS.
In response to the felicitation, Cascia said that he is working for the mother language Konkani. He thanked all the people who supported him over the past 55 shows in various places. He specially thanked KCS, Israel, for arranging the first ever Konkani show with two continuous shows in Israel.
Melwyn Furtado, Bajpe, president, KCS, Benna Kulshekar, president, Indian Committee, Israel, were also felicitated.
KCS, Israel, under the stewardship of Melwyn Furtado, strives hard to bring quality entertainment through their untiring effort towards the Konkani community be it for social, cultural, religious, or monetary support for the needy and less privileged.
Roshan Monteiro, Omzoor, compered the programme and Vinitha D’Souza, secretary, delivered the vote of thanks.
After the programme, the entire audience gave a standing ovation to Cascia and his troupe.
