Mangaluru: National leadership webinar held at St Agnes College (Autonomous)

Mangaluru, Nov 16: A national webinar on 'Financial Mantras for budding Leaders of tomorrow' was organized by the department of Commerce (PG and UG) of St Agnes College (Autonomous) on Thursday November 12 from 11 am onwards and which was live-streamed on the college YouTube channel. More than 500 participants actively took part in the session.

The inaugural programme started with a short prayer. Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal of St Agnes College (Autonomous) extended her good wishes. Nimitha K HOD of BCom welcomed and introduced the speaker. Sr Dr M Vinora AC, coordinator of Post Graduate Studies and Research of St Agnes College (Autonomous) highlighted the importance of financial avenues for students. Dolan Champa Banerjee, HOD Post Graduate department of Commerce compered and moderated the whole session.

The main objective of the webinar was to inculcate the habit of saving among students.

Dr Sharan Kumar Shetty, associate professor, MSN Institute of Management, Mangaluru the resource speaker of the day spoke about the importance of finance in our daily lives. He continued, "As COVID has pushed us in a different situation hence each one of us should know the importance of finances in our lives and avenues to save it. He drew a relationship between study, work, earn, spend and to live a life with saved money to build assets and not liabilities. He also elaborated on the essence of compounding. He strongly reflected on an equation, Earning- Savings= Spending.

The forum was also open for questions. The resource persons clarified the respective questions raised by the students. Rishel D'Souza, MCom student rendered the vote of thanks.
