Udupi: District Congress organizes signature campaign to protest farm laws

Udupi, Nov 17: Udupi district Congress Committee organized a signature campaign against APMC Bill in order to support the country-wide protest. The collected signature rolls were also displayed in a public place for about two kilometres from Bannanje to Kalsanka by Congress party leaders and workers on Tuesday, November 17.

KPCC working president Saleem Ahmad launched the campaign. He condemned the farm laws, which were amended to the Land Reform Act. He alleged that the Central and state government led by BJP is anti-labourer, anti-farmer and a corrupt government.

"Prime Minister announced Rs 20 lac crore to the nation, but no one knows where they spent such a huge amount. Congress asked total expenditures and bills for the purchase of PPE kits and other medical instruments. But they did not provide any details. The state government failed to get the report. Even though BJP has 25 MPs, injustice is prevailing in the state. Congress is pressurizing the President of India not to pass the Bill as it threatens to push the farmers into debt," Saleem said.

Former in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said, "The signature campaign against farm laws is organized in every district. Hope that this protest gets success and this campaign be an eye-opener for the President of India and the Prime Minister."

The campaign was headed by Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president of Udupi district Congress Committee. The collected signatures were handed over to Saleem Ahmad to forward it to the President of India. The signatures were collected from 111 booths in Udupi.

Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Prakhyath Shetty, Bhaskar Rao Kediyoor, Nagesh Kumar Udyavar, Ramesh Kanchan, Krishnamurthy Acharya, Dinkar Heruru, Bhujanga Shetty, Saurabh Ballal, Habib Ali, Geetha Vagle, Dr Sunitha Shetty, Veronic Cornelio, Sarasu D Bangera, Sarala Kanchan, Roshani Olivera, Jyothi Hebbar, Chandrika Shetty, Harish Kini and others were present.

The authorities in Udupi Town should have not allowed the
Congress chaos on the main road in Bannanje and a gathering
at the Udupi City Bus Terminal. It was such a disturbance to a
    peaceful morning.

The thing was so noisy and the traffic was a mess, a total
inconvenience to the residents of Bannanje and Shiribeedu.

All this nonsense should only be allowed in Ajjarkad like
every other political morcha or demonstration.

but act will benefit farmers more than any one else.
till now there was middle man between buyer and seller and most of profit was going to middle man. now farmers can sell their product any where in open marker also he can choose APMC. our farmers understood then benefit of act but congress failed to understand.

yesterdays signature camping was big flop - is evidence that farmers accepted act.
Saleem is trying for MLA ticket from Udupi in 2023 election. lucky JDS will get 2nd place after bhat win the election
