Kolar, Nov 18: On Tuesday November 17, district in-charge minister, MP and other politicians offered the 'Bagina' which is considered auspicious, to Ammerahalli pond that has been filled through the K C Valley project.

District in-charge minister H Nagesh, MP S Muniswamy, MLAs Srinivas Gowda, former speaker Ramesh Kumar, members of the legislative council, Y A Narayanaswamy and Govindaraju as well as Nasir Ahmed took part in the programme. After puja was performed to the tank as is customary, all the dignitaries joined hands to offer 'Bagina' together.

Before that, district in-charge minister H Nagesh, initiated the programme of opening of the gate of the pipe leading to Muduwadi pond in Kolar taluk where water from K C Valley project flows. After the 'Bagina', minister Nagesh, MP and legislators participated in a programme organized by the municipality.

At the stage programme, former speaker Ramesh Kumar, turned emotional. In the past, when K C Valley Project was completed and water flowed into Laxmisagar pond for the first time, he shed tears of happiness. Now, 78 ponds in the district have been filled to the brim as a result of this project. Ramesh Kumar's eyes welled with tears when the dignitaries hailed him for being the driving force behind this project. MLC Nasir Ahmed, MLAs Srinivas Gowda, MP S Muniswamy and others heaped praises on Ramesh Kumar for working hard to implement this project.

Ramesh Kumar asked the farmers not to resort to growing the same traditional crops just because of the fact that ponds in the district have water now. He advised them to grow crops which have demand in foreign countries. He noted that there is demand for pork and beef in foreign countries and felt that good breeds of animals should be nursed and sold. He said that the availability of international airport nearby should be raised and felt that Kolar will achieve a lot of progress in the coming financial year.

Ramesh Kumar said that the information about tussle between Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah for the position of the chief minister are just rumours. He said that after the assembly election, the legislators will elect their leader. He said he knows both these leaders well and that they have good relationship.

He opined that in the Bihar election, the people have voted against the Congress, and that he respects the verdict of the people. He dismissed allegations of tampering of EVM machines as rumours, noting that he had won on the basis of EVM machines. He felt that people should not be driven by political motives when speaking to the public.
