Mangaluru: Man commits suicide after killing married woman

Mangaluru, Nov 18: In a shocking incident reported from Mukka here on Wednesday November 18, a man killed a housewife to whom he was acquainted with and later committed suicide by hanging.

It is suspected that the incident took place at about 3 pm on Tuesday November 17. The deceased have been identified as Vasanth Kumar (36) and Rekha (42).

Vasanth, used to reside near Kulai railway bridge and sell flowers at Surathkal main bus stand. It is said that he called Rekha to his rented house on Tuesday evening at about 3 pm.

Rekha was married to a bsuiness executive residing at Surathkal township.

A rooster which was sacrificed, lime, pumpkin etc were found in the house. It is suspected that Vasanth tried to hypnotize the woman. When she did not cooperate, he reportedly killed Rekha and hanged himself to death.

Mangaluru DCP, Panambur ACP U Belliappa, Surathkal police inspector Chandrappa and sub inspector Sundari conducted spot inspection. Investigations are in progress.
