Mangaluru: Shakthi Education Trust holds valedictory for faculty training programme

Mangaluru, Nov 20: G R Jagadish, the zonal joint-secretary of Vidya Bharathi, speaking at a valedictory programme of the two days training programme for the faculty of Shakthi group of Institutions said, "Teachers are professional learners. The role of a teacher is to effectively excite a captive audience to learn. The teacher is a learner each and every minute of his life. All children have a basic human drive to learn. The teacher’s job is to convince the student that education fulfils that need. Teachers are expert learners. They must transfer their abilities of learning to their students. Gathering little pearls of wisdom each day, the teacher is able to influence pupils. The teacher must become a teacher of social skills. It is an underlying aspect of effective teaching. Teaching the curriculum through the development of social skills elaborates a student’s learning capabilities.

"Learning does not begin with a blank mind. Teachers need to be careful not to be swayed by external influences to achieve successful learning in their classrooms. Given valid opportunities, children will learn. Listen and observe the pupils and learn. Years of teaching need to tell a person that you are still learning."



District secretary of Vidya Bharathi, Lokkayya was present along with the administrator of Shakthi Education Trust, Dr K C Naik, chief advisor, Ramesh K, Principal in-charge of Shakthi PU College- Sudheer M K, Vidya Kamath, principal of Shakthi Residential School, Neema Saxena, co-ordinator of Shree Gopalakrishna Pre-School.

Teachers shared their experiences on the two-day session that included a session on Communication and Public Speaking by Parameshwara Hegde, retired headmaster of Shree Sharada School, Panemangalore and Panchakosha by Venkataramana Rao, correspondent of Saraswathi Vidyalaya, Kadaba.

Rekha D/Costa welcomed the gathering and Premalatha proposed the vote of thanks. Akshatha M G was the master of ceremony.
