Vice President Ansari Condoles Shekhawat's Demise


New Delhi, May 15 (IANS): Vice President Hamid Ansari Saturday condoled the demise of his predecessor Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, saying he had "a glorious record of service to the country".

"Shri Shekhawat had a glorious record of service to the country and the people. He earned the respect and admiration of the people for his dedication, sense of public service, and innate simplicity," Ansari said in his condolence message.

Shekhawat died at Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh Hospital Saturday morning. He was 86.

Shekhawat, who was three-time Rajasthan chief minister, was admitted to hospital Thursday after he complained of breathing problems caused by a lung infection.
