Gunmen abduct 28 travellers in Afghanistan's Wardak province

Kabul, Nov 26 (IANS): Unidentified gunmen intercepted vehicles and abducted 28 travellers in Afghanistan's eastern Wardak province, police spokesman Hajji Mohammad Ofiani said on Thursday.

"The armed militants committed the crime and abducted 28 civilians from Kabul-bound vehicles in Jalriz district," the official said to Xinhua.

The official, however, blamed the Taliban militants for kidnapping the passengers, but the armed outfit has yet to make a comment.

Ofiani also added that efforts are underway to locate and ensure the safe release of the abducted persons.
