Mangalore, May 17:  Foul play is suspected in the death of a woman whose body was found in a house near J M Road bus stand near Bajal on Monday May 17.

The body of a man was also found hanging in the house and it is suspected to be a case of murder-suicide.

The woman has been identified as Shanthi (44), a resident of the house and wife of auto driver Ramachandra. The dead man has been identified as Mohandas (47), a resident of Pragathinagara near Bajal.

The neighbours suspect that Mohandas murdered Shanti and fearing legal punishment, hanged himself.  There were several stab injuries found on the woman's body.

The woman was working in a factory and Mohandas was employed at a workshop near Maroli besides taking up drainage repair contracts.

The neighbours said that he was introduced to the woman during a contract he had undertaken near her house.

The neighbours informed Daijiworld that the woman was in a hurry to attend a house warming ceremony in Kolya near Ullal in the morning.

When Shanti’s daughter entered the house after writing an exam, she found her mother’s body lying in a pool of blood. Then, she found the body of the man.

Seemanth Kumar Singh, commissioner of police, and his team visited the spot. He said that the truth will be known only after an investigation.

Mangalore Rural Police registered a case in this regard.
