Udupi, Nov 28: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, D K Shivakumar will visit the city on Sunday November 29 after taking charge as KPCC chief for the first time to participate in a Congress Workers’ convention organized by the Udupi district Congress committee. The convention will be held at Basel Missionaries Memorial Auditorium Udupi here," said DCC president, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor.
The main purpose of the convention regards the upcoming gram panchayat elections and to motivate the party workers. All the necessary arrangements have been made by the committee to welcome him to the district.
Addressing a press meet held at the Udupi press club, here, on Saturday November 28 Kodavoor said, "The KPCC president will arrive this evening to Byndoor at 8 pm and visit Sri Kshetra Kamalashile temple where he will take darshan from God, perform puja and eat a meal at the temple. He will stay in Kolluru.
"On Sunday November 29 morning, he will take darshan from goddess Kolluru Mookambika. At 9.15 am, the KPCC president will have breakfast at the former minister Gopal Bhandary’s house where there will be a brief meeting with party leaders and workers.
"Around 10.45 pm, he will reach Udupi to participate in a party convention. After the programme, he will proceed to Congress Bhavan, Brahmagiri to take part in a meeting with the district Congress Working committee members, block presidents and various front line unit leaders.
"He will leave Udupi at 4 pm, said Ashok Kumar Kodavoor.
Meanwhile, other Congress leaders like state Kissan Congress president Sachin Meega, state Mahila Congress wing president Pushpa Amarnath, former MLAs Gopal Bhandary, Pramod Madhwaraj, Vinay Kumar Sorake, U R Sabhapathi, Mahila Congress wing district president and all the unit leaders will participate in the convention.
Bhaskar Rao Kidiyoor, spokesperson, Prakhyath Shetty, vice-president, DCC, Prashanth Jathanna, Annayya Sherigar and Keerthi Shetty were present.
