IT exemption on donations to registered gaushalas in MP

Bhopal, Dec 1 (IANS): Those who give donations to 'gaushalas' (cow shelters) in Madhya Pradesh would now be exempted from paying income tax on it on the condition that they must be registered with the state government.

As per information received from the veterinary department, the Commissioner of Income Tax has exempted income tax payers under the Government of India rules for the promotion of cow protection under the registered Cow Rearing and Livestock Promotion Board. The donations given to registered cow sheds under this will also be tax-free.

The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has created a portal for donors to registered cowsheds through which donations for fodder, water, sheds etc could be made.
