Two Killed as Trainer Aircraft Crashes in Madhya Pradesh


Bhopal, May 19 (IANS) A pilot and a trainee were killed after their aircraft crashed near Ujjain town in Madhya Pradesh, police said Wednesday.

"The accident occurred around 5 p.m. when the aircraft hit a telephone wire near a high tension power supply line and caught fire. Instructor Girish Koperkar, 21, and trainee pilot Hitesh Karia, 20, were killed. Both belonged to Mumbai," Superintendent of Police Satish Saxena told IANS over phone.

The aircraft of Yash Air crashed at Kalyanpura village, 200 km from here.

"The incident took place after the aircraft took off from Datana-Matana airstrip, touched the wire and crashed into the dry Kshipra river bed at Kalayanpura village," Additional Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Chaudhary told IANS.
