Plane Crash : LIC Offers to Settle Claims


Udupi, May 23 (The Hindu): The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India has offered assistance in the speedy settlement of claims under the policies held in the names of those killed in the May 22 Mangalore air crash.

A press release issued by the Udupi division of the LIC here on Saturday stated that the following officials could be contacted for any assistance in processing the claims: Uma Rao, Senior Divisional Manager, Udupi (0820-2520310), and Baptist D'Almeida, Marketing Manager, Udupi (0820-2530417).

Alternatively, the LIC helpline 0820-2536907, as published on its website www.licindia.in, can also be contacted in this regard.

The LIC has decided to dispense with the death certificate in the case of air-crash victims to ensure expeditious settlement of the claims. Death in the air crash will be treated as an accident and accident benefit will be payable to the nominees, wherever applicable, the release said.
