Moscow, Dec 6 (IANS): Russia registered 29,039 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, a new record single-day spike since the onset of the pandemic, the country's Covid-19 response centre said on Sunday.
According to the centre, the previous single-day case record was registered on Saturday with 28,782 infections, TASS News Agency reported.
With the new figure, the country's overall Covid-19 caseload has reached 2,469,770.
Of the new cases, Moscow, currently the worst-hit, reported 7,512 infections, which was followed by 3,753 infections in St. Petersburg.
The lowest growth rate were registered in the Chukotka Autonomous Region (0.2 per cent).
Currently, 479,891 people are undergoing treatment in Russia.
The country's death toll surged to 42,228 on Sunday.
