Gurugram, Dec 7 (IANS): Gurugram authorities on Monday beefed up security in the district and even planned to issue prohibitory orders to prevent any untoward incident during the 'Bharat Bandh' called by protesting farmers on Tuesday.

More than 2,000 police personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations in the district, ACP (Headquarters) Usha Kundu said.

"We have issued an advisory to police officials concerned to take necessary precautionary measures in view of the call for shutdown given by farmers and supported by various political parties."

"The police will issue prohibitory orders, if necessary. The Gurugram police is also in touch with its counterparts in adjoining districts of Haryana and Delhi and others to follow the movement of people," Kundu added.

"The leave applications of all police personnel have been cancelled and strict orders issued to them to report for duty on time, if required, in view of the Bharat Bandh," Kundu asserted.

Police officials have been asked to intensify patrolling in all sensitive locations, especially in areas on Delhi borders, to prevent any loss of life or damage to property.

The Gurugram police again started checking vehicles on Monday and put up barricades on the state's highways in the district to monitor movement of vehicles and people into Gurugram. A large number of security personnel, including senior police officers, were deployed in all sensitive locations.

Meanwhile, the Gurugram police said 3 to 4 most sensitive locations have been identified in Gurugram and security tightened there.

"Apart from these locations, the police will also keep an eye on links roads on the interstate border areas in view of the shutdown on Tuesday," Kundu said.

A senior police officer of Gurugram police meanwhile visited border areas of the district on Monday to take stock of the preparations.

"The Gurugram police is on high alert amid the farmers' protests. Police deployment has been increased at all interstate and inter-districts borders in the district. Also, rapid action force personnel and extra policemen have been kept in reserve to tackle any untoward situation on the borders, the ACP said.
