Daijiworld Media Network - Shivamogga (SP)

Shivamogga, Dec 8: In connection with the gangrape of a minor girl inside a car, the women's police station personnel have arrested two of the accused. The arrested accused are said to be Manoj and another. The police have not been revealing the name of the other arrested accused.

It is said that the minor was taken by four persons in a car after which they had raped her. The minor was looking after her sick mother, who was being treated in the McGann Hospital here for coronavirus infection. Ward boy of the hospital was said to be among those who raped the girl.

Vehicle used in the crime and Manoj

A woman from Tarikere in Chikkamagaluru district was under treatment at the said hospital. Her 16-year-old daughter used to take care of her mother by remaining outside the ward. Since the last few days, ward boy of the hospital Manoj, had developed friendship with the girl by helping her to get food, snacks etc. For the last three days, it was hard to get food items as section 144 was in force there. Misusing the situation, Manoj assured the girl that she would be taken out on Saturday night for dinner. The girl trusted him and agreed to his proposal.

Before that, Manoj had drawn up a plan in connivance with his friends. He had asked friends Prajwal and Vinay, to wait with a car outside the hospital. As planned, Manoj led the girl towards the car. It is said that along with Manoj, Prajwal and Vinay, as well as another person was inside the car. Manoj was the first to rape the girl seated in the back. Thereafter, his friends took turns to rape her. Later, they dropped her at the hospital.

The girl, shocked at the development, informed her mother. After the matter was explained to the staff of the Sakhi centre of the hospital, the girl was admitted and tested. She was provided with personal counselling and is being treated now.

The police are on the lookout for the other accused.

Sad. No rapists are innocent. We should send them to Saudi Arabia because the Indian legal system will be a waste of taxpayers' money.

Incidents like these brings to mind Mark Twain's writing on India. "It is a curious people. With them, all life seems to be sacred except human life. Even the life of vermin is sacred and must not be taken."

Our government is busy in bringing anti conversion and anti cow slaughter bills, clear example of saying animals are more valued than human. Please bring a very strict law against Rape immediately and show humanity rather than bringing unnecessary laws /bills in the name of following Indian culture. Each and every rulers forgot the fact that respecting female is true culture of India.

Please treat these animals in the manner in which the Hyderabad gang rapists were treated. No trial but instant justice should prevail. They are not fit to live in human society.

The Yeddys, Bangarappas etc., may rise to the occasion beyond party lines and solve some serious issues occurring in their constituency, under their nose. You can save state or national aspirations for another day.

My humble suggestion to the police is that, when you take them to the court, please give them a chance to escape.

Police must arrest all the four accused and disclose their identity and also must apply very strict sections of the IPC for their crime and harsh punishment.

Such crime is done with full awareness that they will be caught. There are strict laws but unfortunately a weak police/judicial system enables them to get out. A shocking 67% high court judge posts are vacant, same with police personnel. Repeated reforms committee recommendations are ignored. A strong judicial and police force is there in every developed country and is the need of the hour.
