Bharat Bandh: Less traffic on Delhi-Jaipur expressway

Gurugram, Dec 8 (IANS): Amid the 'Bharat Bandh' call by the farmers' organisations and political parties, less traffic movement was seen on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway on Tuesday during the peak hours.

The traffic personnel deployed at the border said the traffic movement witnessed was less, but very smooth as compared to other days.

"In the past few days a huge traffic snarl was witnessed on National Highway 48. The vehicles moved bumper to bumper. In view of Bharat Bandh we have been standing here since morning, the number of commuters has been very less so far," said a traffic personnel deployed at Delhi-Gurugram border.

However, the Delhi Police erected barricades on the border but was not checking any vehicle entering the national capital.

"We are checking only suspicious vehicles entering Delhi. All the lanes on the expressway have been opened in view of the traffic disruption," said a traffic officer of the Delhi police.

Besides, the Gurugram Police have issued a traffic advisory in view of the Bharat Bandh regarding the traffic movement on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway.
