Udupi, Dec 10: Relating to a complaint of abduction of two boys registered in the women's police station here on December 3, it is learnt that the children are under protection and that they were not kidnapped. The district child protection unit said that both the children are safe.
"Both the boys had visited the girls rehablitation centre at Nittoor here on December 3. Their elder sister stays there. The boys requested to accommodate them there as their elder sister is residing there, duly explaining that their mother beats them up. After the issue was brought to the notice of the president of the child welfare committee, as per his order, the children were rehabilitated at Namma Bhoomi society at Hattiangady for rehabilitation," the unit said.
"Confusion arose because Nagaraj, the father of the children, instead of making use of child helpline, visited the women's police station and lodged a kidnapping complaint. The children were in fact, not abducted. If the parents are capable of taking care of the children properly, they can approach the child welfare committee with suitable documents and take their children back," the child proteciton unit stated.
