J&K DDC 5th phase polls: 43.27% polling in 6 hours


Jammu, Dec 10 (IANS): The fifth phase of the District Development Council (DDC)elections in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday recorded a voter percentage of 43.27 across different constituencies spread over several districts till 1 p.m.

Kashmir Division recorded an overall polling percentage of 27.33 and Jammu Division recorded 57.25 in six hours.

Bandipora in Kashmir registered the highest 49.78 per cent polling, and Jammu Division's Rajouri with 64.54 per cent was witnessing enthusiastic participation. Shopian in Kashmir had the least polling with 3.74 per cent till 1 p.m.

As per the figures given by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, Pulwama recorded 7.20 per cent, Baramulla 37.84 per cent, Kulgam 23.31 per cent, Anantnag 18.12 per cent, Ganderbal 28.91 per cent, Kupwara 37.38 per cent and Budgam 40.21 per cent.

Similarly, in Jammu division, Kishtwar recorded 58.96 per cent polling, Udhampur 55.74 per cent, Jammu 52.61 per cent, Kathua 53.97 per cent, Ramban 57.36 per cent, Doda 59.72 per cent, Samba 57.47 per cent, Poonch 59.10 per cent, and Reasi 56.82 per cent.

In the fifth phase of the DDC elections, voting is being held in 37 DDC constituencies, 17 from Kashmir Division and 20 from Jammu Division.
