Mangaluru, Dec 11: Members of Karnataka Dalit Horata Samithi on Friday December 11 alleged that the government officers deputy tahsildar Shivaprasad, Neerumarga gram panchayat PDO Sudhir, clerk Baskar have bulldozed a foundation laid for the construction of a house by a dalit woman.

Addressing a press meet at press club, here, district leader of Karnataka Dalit Horata Samithi SP Ananda alleged that these officers directed to raze down the foundation built to construct a house. The site (2.50 cents) under the survey number 109/1 belongs to Prema alias Savitha. After razing down the foundation, they have fenced the property, he alleged.

The government allotted the site to Prema through a government programme. As Prema and her husband Mohan were under financial crisis, they could not construct a house. They have even given in writing to the government. When there is an election code of conduct, the officers have taken this 'inhuman' step, he alleged.

He also stated that there are few with vested interests behind this, who want to construct a building which accommodates Anganwadi, Beedi branch and a club. Even the incident has been brought to the notice of senior officers.

"The organisation would hold a severe protest and hunger strike, if the officers failed to return the land to the poor dalit woman," Ananda said.
